Nuclear energy

The UK has 9 operational nuclear reactors active across five locations. There are 8 advanced gas-cooled reactors (AGR) and one pressurised water reactor (PWR)), producing 5.9 GWe.

The UK has 2 nuclear reprocessing plants at Sellafield and the Tails Management Facility (TMF) operated by Urenco in Capenhurst. 

The UK has a nuclear plant currently under construction named Hinkley Point C in Somerset. This is the first nuclear power station built in the UK in over 20 years, and there are plans for a second, named Sizewell C, in Suffolk.
